Drugs found

Brandon police arrested a man and woman after stopping a car that was reported stolen over the weekend prior to Christmas.

The two occupants were found in a 2012 Kia near the 300 block of 10th Street on Friday morning.

They were arrested and charged with possession of stolen property.

The 30-year-old male suspect was also found with three cellphones, a scale and a small amount methamphetamine, cocaine and cash. He was also found to be in breach of an undertaking (failure to comply to conditions from a previous charge). He was held overnight and appeared in court on Saturday morning.

The female passenger was released on a promise to appear in court at a later date.

In a separate incident, police arrested a 29-year-old man near the 300 block of 12th Street on Saturday afternoon, after he was found with a small amount of methamphetamine.

He was charged with possession of a controlled substance and released on a promise to appear in court at a later date.

Possession of a weapon

On Friday evening, police arrested a 22-year-old man after responding to a disturbance at a residence on the 600 block of Princess Avenue.

The suspect was found to be the reason for the disturbance, and police found a sawed-off .22-calibre rifle and a dagger in his possession. He was charged with several offences including unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order.

He was held overnight awaiting a court appearance.

Store theft, again

A 29-year-old male was arrested after he tried to steal $1,300 worth of merchandise from a business located on the 1500 block of 18th Street on Saturday.

Police arrested him at the scene and charged him with theft. This was the second time in a week the suspect had been charged with theft from the same business. He was released with a promise to appear in court at a later date.

Disturbance at residence

Police responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence located on the 1500 block of Stickney Avenue on Saturday evening.

Police located a 31-year-old man at the residence who was violating conditions not to communicate with the female at the residence. The suspect was arrested for failing to comply with the conditions of his undertaking and was scheduled to appear in court the next day.

Outstanding warrant

Police located and arrested a 38-year-old man with an outstanding arrest warrant at a residence on Cornell Bay on Friday.

The arrest warrant was for failing to attend court previously and failing to comply with his release order.

He was held overnight by police to appear in court the next morning.
