Theo James fans have been left flabbergasted by his real voice in a new interview.

The Inbetweeners Movie star has racked up a varied filmography, from James, a Malia party rep, to Turkish diplomat Kemal Panuk in Downton Abbey.

Most recently he appeared in Netflix hit The Gentlemen, where he plays aristocratic gangster Eddie Halstead alongside the likes of Kaya Scodelario, Daniel Ings, and Vinnie Jones.

After perfecting his American accents in the likes of Divergent and Golden Boy, fans were left stunned by Theo’s real voice during an interview.

The actor, who hails from Buckinghamshire, reminisced over his time studying at Nottingham University during a chat with Capital Radio.

However, it wasn’t his tales from his student years that shocked listeners as much as his deep, British tones leaving many wondering if he has ‘always sounded like that.’

On a clip of the interview posted to TikTok, Evie Middleton commented ‘Why did I not expect his voice to be like that 😂’, with many echoing her thoughts.

Some said his accent gave them ‘the ick’ while others had a vastly different opinion, claiming they are in love with his voice.

Jay Bee wondered: ‘Whys he talking like Mr.Bean ??’ while a user named Darcey said they’d ‘never heard Nottingham described so nicely.’

The Gentlemen has received rave reviews from Netflix viewers, with many claiming to have binge-watched every episode in record time.

A spin-off of Guy Ritchie’s 2019 film of the same name, the eight-part series stars The White Lotus’ Theo as Edward, who unexpectedly inherits an estate of 15,000 acres and the title of Duke of Halstead from his recently deceased father.

However, he soon learns that the land has become part of a weed-growing empire run by Bobby Glass and he must then navigate a world of eclectic and dangerous characters while also trying to protect his home and stay alive.

The peril depicted onscreen was matched behind the scenes apparently as Skins star Kaya revealed to Metro.co.uk in an interview.

She opened up on an accident she had involving… a clapperboard. She said: ‘I was doing the scene and one of the crew members [accidentally] dropped a clapperboard on my face and I have the footage of it. It’s very funny.

‘It knocked me right on my cheek and he ran away and didn’t even say sorry.’

The Gentlemen is available to stream on Netflix.
