The Dinos football team hits the road for the first time on the young season this weekend with a trip to UBC on Saturday at 2 p.m. MT. Calgary opened the year with a 33-9 loss to Alberta this past weekend in a game that hinged on three big plays – all of which went in favour of the Golden Bears.

Last season, UBC posted a 39-29 win in Calgary to snap a 10-game losing streak in the series. In that one, then-rookie Matthieu Clarke exploded for a career-high 208 yards rushing on just 18 carries. The Dinos will hope to have Clarke back this week, after missing the opener with an injury.

Sunday, September 10 | Calgary vs. MacEwan (1-1) | Dinosaur Field | 12:00 p.m. | Watch | Live Stats

The Dinos men’s soccer team returns home for a weekend homestand against a pair of conference foes from Edmonton, hosting Alberta on Saturday at noon before MacEwan comes to Dinosaur Field Sunday, also scheduled to start at noon.

Calgary is coming off a rollercoaster of a weekend that saw their Friday contest at Saskatchewan get postponed at the last minute due to air quality. Then, Dinos made the trek back to Lethbridge and grabbed an early 1-0 lead only to need to come back from a two-goal deficit to force a 3-3 draw.

Last year, the Dinos tied both the Golden Bears and Griffins in Edmonton before posting 1-0 and 5-0 wins against the pair late in the season in Calgary in games played at McMahon Stadium due to weather.

Calgary’s women’s soccer team will look to continue their winning ways while facing their stiffest test of the season, to date, with a pair of weekend games in Edmonton. The action starts Friday against long-standing rival Alberta before a Sunday contest against fellow unbeaten MacEwan. Both games are scheduled to kick off at noon.

The Dinos are once again off to a red-hot start to the season, defeating Manitoba, Winnipeg and Lethbridge by a combined score of 10-1. The Pandas are 1-1-2 thus far, while MacEwan heads into the weekend 4-0, outscoring their opponents 9-4 – six of which have been scored by Grace Mwasalla. The Griffins will take on Lethbridge before Sunday’s competition against the Dinos.

Calgary fell to Alberta 2-1 in the regular season in 2022 only to bounce back with a 3-2 double-OT win in the Canada West Quarterfinal. Meanwhile, the Griffins posted a 1-0 win in Edmonton last year for their second-ever win in the all-time series, but the game was eventually credited as a forfeit and 1-0 win for the Dinos due to the use of an ineligible player.
